Meet Walter, a discontinued Vintage VSA850 full hollow-body electric guitar finished in Vintage White with gold hardware, Wilkinson Alnico humbuckers and a Bigsby-style tension-bar tremolo.
Walter arrived at The Stray Chord needing some attention before finding his next home. Following a full professional setup, fretwork and restoration, he was rehomed for £375.
About Walter
Taking deep inspiration from the rockabilly and jazz guitars of the 1950s, the discontinued Vintage VSA850 combines a full maple hollow body with a set maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, transparent pickguard and striking gold hardware.
A pair of Wilkinson Alnico humbuckers provide everything from warm, rounded jazz tones to considerably more aggressive blues and rock and roll sounds, while the tension-bar tremolo provides the characteristic shimmer associated with classic hollow-body guitars.
One particularly unusual feature of the VSA850 is its four-control layout. Rather than the conventional two-volume, two-tone arrangement, Walter features individual volume controls for each pickup alongside master volume and master tone controls, allowing the two pickups to be balanced independently while retaining quick overall control.
The floating Tune-O-Matic-style bridge sits on a contrasting rosewood base, completing the traditional hollow-body appearance.
Restoration & setup
Before being rehomed by The Stray Chord, Walter received:

He retained his original factory hardware and electronics.
