Nemesis! - B.C. Rich Warlock Body Art Collection Maggot Man (2003) + Coffin Case
Meet Nemesis
B.C. Rich Warlock | 2003 Body Art Collection | Maggot Man by Skate The Planet
Adoption Fee: £695 — Including Coffin Case
Some guitars are designed to be elegant, understated and perfectly at home in polite company.
Nemesis is not one of those guitars.
Dating from 2003, this wonderfully outrageous B.C. Rich Warlock belongs to the distinctive Body Art Collection, featuring the gloriously gruesome Maggot Man artwork by Skate The Planet.
It’s a surviving piece of early-2000s guitar history, from a time when B.C. Rich were already producing some of the most aggressive instrument designs imaginable and apparently decided that what they really needed was a little more horror.
The result is something rather extraordinary.
Nemesis features the unmistakable Warlock silhouette, with its dramatic points and sweeping contours finished in a smoky grey. Across the body sprawls the striking Maggot Man illustration, rendered in ghostly blue-green tones that contrast beautifully with the darker background.
The artwork has an almost three-dimensional quality, giving the impression that something particularly unpleasant is attempting to escape from the guitar.
We’re rather hoping it doesn’t succeed.
Part of B.C. Rich’s limited-period Body Art Collection, the Maggot Man design dates to February 2003. These distinctive graphic instruments capture a particularly memorable period in the company’s history, and surviving examples are an appealing prospect for collectors and enthusiasts of early-2000s metal guitars.
Beneath the extraordinary artwork, Nemesis is a thoroughly capable six-string electric guitar.
His bolt-on maple neck carries a 24-fret fingerboard decorated with distinctive diamond-shaped inlays, while the unmistakable B.C. Rich Widow headstock completes the wonderfully aggressive appearance.
A pair of B.C. Rich humbuckers provides the thick, powerful tones you’d expect from an instrument of this character, with a three-way pickup selector and volume and tone controls offering a straightforward, versatile arrangement.
His fixed bridge and string-through-body construction provide a practical, reliable alternative to a floating tremolo, making him an excellent choice for players who prefer to spend their time making music rather than negotiating with tremolo springs.
Condition and Restoration
Nemesis has had just one owner from new, and his condition reflects the care he has received over more than two decades.
The original Maggot Man artwork remains beautifully preserved, and the guitar presents exceptionally well for its age. There is a very small chip to one of the headstock points, which we mention for complete transparency.
As with every Stray, Nemesis has received our comprehensive workshop treatment, including fret levelling, crowning and polishing, electronics cleaning and a full professional setup. His action and intonation have been carefully adjusted to ensure he’s ready for his next chapter.
The Coffin Case
As if the guitar itself weren’t theatrical enough, Nemesis comes complete with a magnificent coffin-shaped hard case, lined with deep red plush.
It’s an extraordinary companion to the Warlock’s dramatic silhouette, providing both protection and a wonderfully fitting presentation.
After all, a guitar covered in skeletal artwork and named Nemesis was hardly going to arrive in something sensible.
A Very Special Stray
What makes Nemesis particularly appealing is the combination of his unusual artwork, one-owner history, excellent overall condition and accompanying Coffin Case.
He’s an unmistakable example of B.C. Rich’s more extravagant design philosophy, combining the classic Warlock shape with a distinctive piece of early-2000s graphic art.
He certainly won’t be for everyone.
But for somebody who appreciates unusual guitars, gothic aesthetics and the gloriously excessive side of rock and metal history, Nemesis is something rather special.
Nemesis is available for adoption at £695, including his red-plush-lined Coffin Case.
Professionally serviced, carefully prepared and ready for his next owner.
