Bea! - ESP LTD EC-256FM Lemon Drop – 2022 Electric Guitar
2022 ESP LTD EC-256FM Electric Guitar in Lemon Drop
Meet Bea, a 2022 ESP LTD EC-256FM in the striking Lemon Drop finish, combining classic single-cut styling with a mahogany body, flame maple top, set mahogany neck and coil-splittable ESP Designed humbuckers.
Bea came to The Stray Chord after spending most of her young life hanging on a wall. She was fundamentally in excellent condition but had never received the fret finishing, setup or attention needed to realise her full potential.
Following comprehensive fretwork, finish correction and a complete professional setup, Bea was successfully rehomed for £280.
About Bea
The ESP LTD EC-256FM brings much of the character of LTD's higher-end Eclipse models to a more accessible instrument.
Bea's single-cut mahogany body is topped with flame maple, finished in transparent Lemon Drop to showcase the figuring underneath. Cream binding and chrome hardware complete the traditional appearance.
A three-piece mahogany Thin U-profile neck is set into the body, providing excellent stability, upper-fret access and sustain. The roasted jatoba fingerboard carries 22 extra-jumbo frets and LTD's distinctive flag inlays.
Electronics comprise a pair of ESP Designed LH-150 humbuckers, providing substantial output for rock and heavier styles while remaining versatile enough for clean and lower-gain playing.
Independent pickup volume controls are joined by a master tone control incorporating push/pull coil splitting, allowing the humbuckers to access brighter single-coil-style sounds.
A traditional Tune-O-Matic-style bridge and stopbar tailpiece complete a straightforward, dependable specification designed to work equally well on stage, in the studio or at home.
Restoration & setup
Bea had seen relatively little use before arriving at The Stray Chord, but her factory finishing and conservative setup left considerable room for improvement.
During her rehabilitation she received:
- Complete professional setup
- Neck relief precisely adjusted
- All 22 extra-jumbo frets levelled
- Frets crowned and polished to a mirror finish
- Fret ends dressed and refined
- Fingerboard edges carefully rolled
- Roasted jatoba fingerboard thoroughly cleaned and conditioned
- Action lowered and optimised
- Full intonation
- ESP Designed humbucker heights individually balanced
- Control assembly thoroughly cleaned
- Stiff and scratchy controls serviced
- Push/pull coil split checked
- Electronics tested for clean, noise-free operation
- Lemon Drop finish carefully cleaned and polished
- Final playability inspection
The result was a substantially more refined EC-256FM with smooth fretwork, comfortable low action and a deep gloss finish that properly showcases the figuring of its flame maple top.
