Vlad! - B.C. Rich Jr V Standard | Metallic Red | 2011

Vlad is red, pointy, fitted with two high-output humbuckers and equipped with a double-locking tremolo.

In other words, he is very definitely a B.C. Rich.

This is a 2011 B.C. Rich Jr V Standard finished in Metallic Red, a wonderfully aggressive early-2010s design built around the company’s more compact V body shape.

Despite the name, “Jr” does not indicate a miniature or child-sized instrument. It simply refers to this particular B.C. Rich V design.

The mahogany body is paired with a bolt-on maple neck and rosewood fingerboard carrying 24 frets and distinctive Iron V position markers.

A pair of original Rockfield Mafia humbuckers provide the electronics. These high-output pickups were designed for a powerful, mid-forward sound with plenty of low-end weight and attack, making them particularly well suited to high-gain playing.

Controls are intentionally simple, with master volume, master tone and a three-way pickup selector.

At the bridge is a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo, providing the stability and range required for everything from subtle vibrato to considerably less responsible behaviour.

Vlad has been fully prepared at The Stray Chord. His frets have been levelled, crowned and polished, the rosewood fingerboard thoroughly cleaned and conditioned, the electronics and hardware inspected, and a complete professional setup carried out.

The Floyd Rose has been correctly balanced and adjusted, with the action and intonation properly dialled in.

Cosmetically, the Metallic Red finish has a particularly attractive depth, shifting from dark wine red to bright metallic crimson depending on the light. The black hardware, pickups and headstock provide a strong contrast against the body.

Vlad also comes with a fitted Stag hard case. This is not the original B.C. Rich case, but it fits the guitar securely and provides proper protection for the V-shaped body and its extremities.
