Geiger is designed to remain visible from low Earth orbit.

The official finish is Neon Green, although photographs struggle to convey quite how vivid it is in person. Jackson then paired it with factory pink pickup bobbins and a matching pink headstock logo, producing one of the most unapologetically colourful Dinky models of recent years.

Introduced in 2021, the Jackson X Series DK3XR HSS takes much of its inspiration from the brightly coloured shred guitars of the 1980s while incorporating a thoroughly modern playing specification.

The poplar Dinky body features Jackson’s sculpted shredder’s heel for easier upper-fret access and is paired with a bolt-on maple Speed Neck with graphite reinforcement and a scarf joint for additional stability.

The laurel fingerboard has a 12”-16” compound radius, rolled edges, 24 jumbo frets and large inverted pearloid sharkfin inlays. The progressively flatter radius is designed to remain comfortable for chords lower down while providing a flatter surface for bends and faster playing higher up the neck.

Geiger uses an HSS pickup configuration, with Jackson single coils in the neck and middle positions and a high-output humbucker at the bridge. A five-way selector provides a useful range of sounds, controlled by master volume and tone.

At the bridge is a Jackson-branded Floyd Rose-licensed double-locking tremolo, providing the wide pitch range and tuning stability expected from a modern shred guitar.

Geiger has received the full Stray Chord treatment. Her frets have been levelled, crowned and polished, the fingerboard thoroughly cleaned and conditioned, electronics and hardware inspected and serviced, and the tremolo properly balanced and set up. Action and intonation have also been dialled in.

Cosmetically she is generally very tidy. There is a small triangular area on the front of the body where the finish has aged differently due to a previous pick holder. This is clearly visible in the photographs.

There are guitars designed to blend quietly into almost any musical situation.

Geiger is not one of them.

A fluorescent green, pink-pickup-equipped, sharkfin-covered Jackson with 24 frets and a double-locking tremolo, she has all the subtlety of a glow stick fired from a cannon.

And we would not change a thing.
