Mirage! - Ibanez RG370AHMZ | 2017 | Blue Moon Burst
Some guitars are subtle.
Mirage has a spectacular Blue Moon Burst finish, visible ash grain, a maple fingerboard, a double-locking tremolo and enough pointy bits to make subtlety largely irrelevant.
Built in Indonesia in 2017, Mirage is an Ibanez RG370AHMZ finished in Blue Moon Burst. Depending on the light, the finish moves through turquoise, electric blue and deep violet, with the grain of the ash body remaining beautifully visible underneath.
Behind the looks is a proper RG.
The ash body is paired with Ibanez’s slim and fast Wizard III maple neck, topped with a maple fingerboard and 24 jumbo frets. It’s the familiar RG formula: flat, quick and designed to make getting around the neck as effortless as possible.
Mirage is fitted with an HSH pickup configuration, combining neck and bridge humbuckers with a middle single coil and a five-way selector. It gives her considerably more versatility than the unapologetically shred-oriented appearance might suggest, covering heavier sounds, brighter cleans and plenty in between.
At the bridge is Ibanez’s Edge-Zero II double-locking tremolo with the Zero Point System. It offers the freedom of a floating trem for everything from gentle vibrato to full-scale dive-bomb nonsense, while the stabilising system helps the bridge return to its zero position.
Visually, the combination of Blue Moon Burst, natural body edge, black hardware and maple fingerboard makes this particular RG especially striking.
As with every guitar that passes through The Stray Chord, Mirage received far more than a quick clean and a fresh set of strings. She went through our full workshop process, including inspection, deep cleaning, fret levelling, crowning and polishing, fret-end attention, hardware and electronics checks and a complete setup.
The result was a seriously beautiful RG, restored, properly set up and ready for another chapter.
Mirage has now been adopted.
