Faith Neptune Acoustic-Electric Guitar with Original Hard Case

Meet Daphne, a beautifully preserved Faith Neptune acoustic-electric guitar designed in the UK by Patrick James Eggle, combining a solid Engelmann spruce top with solid Indonesian mahogany back and sides, Macassar ebony fingerboard and Fishman INK3 electronics.

Daphne spent much of her previous life safely stored inside her hard case because her owner simply preferred playing electric guitar. As a result, she arrived at The Stray Chord remarkably well preserved, requiring refinement and professional setup rather than major restoration.

Following complete fretwork, servicing and acoustic setup, Daphne was successfully rehomed for £485, complete with her original hard case.

About Daphne

The Faith Neptune occupies a useful middle ground between larger dreadnought-style acoustics and more compact orchestra-sized instruments.

Its body provides plenty of projection and low-end authority without becoming excessively bulky, making the Neptune equally comfortable for strumming, accompaniment and fingerstyle playing.

Daphne's solid Engelmann spruce top provides a responsive and articulate foundation, paired with solid Indonesian mahogany back and sides for warmth, depth and projection.

A one-piece mahogany neck is topped by a beautifully figured Macassar ebony fingerboard, while abalone position markers provide restrained decoration.

Faith's use of natural materials continues with solid ebony binding, while a Graph Tech TUSQ nut provides a consistent contact point for the strings.

The result is an acoustic built around genuinely impressive tonewoods rather than decorative veneers disguising cheaper construction.

Fishman INK3 electronics

Daphne is equipped with a Fishman INK3 preamp system, allowing the Neptune to move easily from unplugged playing to rehearsal, recording or live performance.

The under-saddle piezo pickup feeds the onboard preamp, providing convenient control directly from the guitar.

Features include:

  • Three-band EQ
  • Phase control
  • Onboard tuner
  • Under-saddle piezo pickup

This makes Daphne particularly useful as a stage acoustic, allowing tonal adjustments and tuning to be handled directly from the instrument.

Restoration & setup

Daphne had been stored carefully and arrived in excellent underlying condition, but even lightly played instruments benefit enormously from proper fretwork and setup.

During her rehabilitation at The Stray Chord she received:

  • Complete professional acoustic setup
  • Frets fully levelled
  • Frets individually crowned
  • Frets polished
  • Fret ends carefully dressed and rounded
  • Macassar ebony fingerboard edges hand-rolled
  • Fingerboard thoroughly deep-cleaned
  • Macassar ebony conditioned
  • Fishman INK3 electronics inspected
  • Electronics and controls cleaned
  • Truss rod relief precisely adjusted
  • Bridge action optimised
  • Nut slots precision-filed where required
  • Intonation and overall playability checked
  • Body and finish thoroughly cleaned
  • Guitar carefully polished
  • Fresh DR Dragon Skin acoustic strings fitted
  • Final acoustic and amplified inspection

The result was a beautifully refined Neptune with comfortable action, smooth fretwork and a much more naturally broken-in neck feel.

Daphne's adoption

🧡 REHOMED 🧡

Daphne wasn't battered, broken or forgotten in an attic.

She simply spent far too much of her life safely tucked inside her case while her previous owner reached for an electric instead.

After a full rehabilitation, fretwork and professional acoustic setup, Daphne finally found someone ready to let her sing.

She is no longer available for adoption, but her page remains permanently in The Stray Chord Rehomed Archive, documenting her rehabilitation and providing a reference for players researching Faith Neptune acoustic-electric guitars.
