Even the back retains a wonderfully natural appearance, allowing the timber grain to remain visible beneath the dark finish.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThen we get to the neck.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd Ibanez continued being ridiculous.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNyx has a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003efive-piece Wenge and Bubinga Wizard neck\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, one of the exotic-wood constructions found on this generation of Premium instruments. Dark, beautifully grained and exceptionally slim, it measures approximately 18mm at the first fret and 20mm at the twelfth, combined with the familiar flat 400mm RG fingerboard radius.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn other words, it is essentially a very attractive collection of exotic hardwoods designed to facilitate poor decisions at high speed.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOn top sits a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWenge fingerboard\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e with offset mother-of-pearl dot inlays and 24 jumbo frets, originally finished with Ibanez’s Premium fret-edge treatment.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNaturally, we’ve interfered with those too.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNyx has been through our full Stray rehabilitation process, including deep cleaning, fret levelling, crowning and polishing, fret-end attention, hardware and electronics checks and a complete professional setup.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBecause Premium fret-edge treatment is very nice.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBut Jordan has tools.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eElectronics come courtesy of a pair of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDiMarzio\/Ibanez passive ceramic humbuckers\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, controlled by master volume, master tone and a five-way selector.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd that five-way is considerably cleverer than you might expect from a guitar carrying only two humbuckers.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eRather than simply offering the obvious bridge, both and neck choices, the switching provides additional coil combinations alongside the full humbucker sounds.
